Master Jeweller/Co-owner, Benjamin Clark, says strengthening business capabilities and solid planning has been the key to achieving consistent revenue growth over the past three years.

“Our talented team has worked incredibly hard since we opened our doors three years ago and winning this award is a huge honour for the business, but it is testament to the people within it,”says Clark.

“We have aimed to consistently diversify, adding several capabilities such as creating a sister fashion jewellery brand, Black Matter, in order to reach a wider market, which is currently being sold into stockists throughout New Zealand.

Amy (Amy Cunningham, co-owner of Benjamin Black Goldsmiths) also moved to full-time hours this year, to bolster marketing and public relations efforts and build awareness of the Black Matter brand.

We have also utilised the services of a Business Coach/Mentor since the idea for the business was conceived. Bernadette Breese, Certified Life and Business Coach, has supported and guided us at every stage of our journey. We made the decision to bring Bernadette into our team earlier this year, which has been incredibly valuable, in addition to employing another jeweller, Joel Whitwell, and graphic designer, Amber Watts, to help with operational demands.”

The national Deloitte Fast 50 index, national category winners and national Rising Star, will be unveiled as part of the Deloitte Festival of Fast Growth, to be held in Auckland on 16 November 2016.
