Custom Engagement Ring Feature: Nicole & Jordan

As Nicole and Jordan prepare to wed next week, we are so excited to share photos of their custom-designed engagement ring.

Jordan and Nicole

Jordan was very involved in the design process of this spectacular ring. The ring uses the Benjamin Black Goldsmiths' signature loop and is set with a trilliant cut diamond and argillite (pakohe) within the loop, which is symbolic to the couple.

Argillite, or Pakohe, is an indurated mudstone which plays a significant role in Maori history.

Particularly associated with the Nelson-Marlborough region of New Zealand, early Maori communities recognised its superior qualities of hardness, strength, and ability to hold a sharpened edge, which made it ideal for making tools (especially adzes) and weapons.

We love to incorporate personal and meaningful aspects into each piece we create.

Here is the wax mock-up we created with Jordan as the ring design was coming together...

We often hand carve our designer rings, and particularly engagement rings, in wax first, to ensure we get the design just right before creating it in precious metal.

If you are thinking about getting engaged or are planning your wedding day, Benjamin Black Goldsmiths can work with you to create unique, hand-crafted diamond rings, jewellery and accessories that you will treasure for generations. Contact us to talk about our wedding and engagement design process.
